Comment from the Coach

Team,

Great effort today - a 5-1 victory against the 2nd placed team was more than we could have asked and sets up well for the run home.

Again, it was the strong defensive line of Andy, Rob, Jack and Tom who under-pinned our win.  They are playing cohesively with good sense of each other's play and positioning.  Often the defence goes un-recognised in good wins but you guys deserve collective praise again today - our cumulative goal difference this season is down to you.

These defensive efforts released the mid-fielders and forwards to share 5 goals amongst them with Raph, Ollie, James H, Martin and James G all enjoying their moments of glory.  As always, a few fun moments with our team (well they are now…) with James H managing to bounce the ball off both posts without scoring and Martin doing his best Beckham/Wilkinson impersonations by sending the ball high over the cross bar several times.

Man-of-the-match today was Martin, another game where he was everywhere, made some crunching/never-give-up tackles and some delightful through balls to set up the forwards - an inspirational and gutsy effort.

The best thing about everyone's performance of late is you are making my job very difficult in terms of team selection and substitutions.  You (including the rested players today) are all playing very well - so as we make each week's selections - don't be overly concerned about some rotation - it is just ensuring a decent run for all the players.  If you are carrying any niggling injuries, let me know so we can optimise the rests.
